14 October 2016

As starkly beautiful as it is harshly uncompromising, the Oscar-nominated film ‘The Revenant’ is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, this film showcases Leonardo DiCaprio fighting against all odds to just breathe and survive to ensure that his urge for vengeance does not go unfulfilled.

Inspired by true events, the movie narrates the tale of a legendary explorer and fur trapper Hugh Glass, who is brutally attacked by a wild bear during one of his expeditions of the uncharted American wilderness. In the accident, he gets partially paralyzed and is forced to watch the murder of his own son. That’s not all, as he is left to die by members of his own hunting team. Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass navigates a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

Star gets fast and furious with U.S. shows on Indian TV

“I am targeting the top 1 percent — the people who travel abroad, or have lived abroad, are exposed to these shows, and will be willing to pay for premium content,” said Kevin Vaz, who heads English-language channels in India for the television network owned by Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox.

India still a growth story, say Mumbai CEOs

Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India said, "We are in India because this is the market we understand and where we create value. I don't think there is a question in any of our minds about looking beyond India, or substituting India with some other country."

Points of view: Power of repetition

Ajit Thakur, general manager, Life OK said, "Before Mahadev came, mythology was off the screen, there was just Jai Shri Krishna. Once Mahadev became a hit, I guess everybody has had a mythology-based show."
