47.5 Crore viewers watched the first 34 matches of Tata IPL 2024 on Disney Star Network

- TV Reach of the live broadcast for the first 34 Matches clocked 5% growth vs the previous highest (2019) 

- TVR grows by 19% compared to the last edition 

- MI vs CSK witnessed 6.3 Crore concurrent viewers tuning in during Dhoni’s batting making it the highest for this season

MI vs CSK played during the rivalry week of IPL on Star is the most rated league match, outside of the Pandemic years

25th April, 2024, Mumbai: As the TATA IPL 2024 crosses its halfway mark, Disney Star, the official broadcaster of the tournament, maintains its stronghold on viewership records, setting new benchmarks for TV broadcast. According to the latest data released by BARC, Disney Star has achieved a cumulative reach of 47.5 crore viewers accompanied by an astounding 24500 crore minutes of total watch time, a growth of 18% in consumption compared to the previous edition. The broadcaster has also recorded a growth of 5% on TV reach for Live Broadcast compared to the previous highest recorded in 2019. Disney Star also witnessed a growth of 19% in TVR for the first 34 matches compared to the previous edition. 

One of the biggest clashes in the tournament was the electrifying showdown between MI and CSKplayed during the rivalry week of #IPLonStar. The match won by CSK at Wankhede attracted 6.3crore concurrent viewers on TV during MS Dhoni’s magnificent blitz (20 runs of 4 balls), making it the highest concurrency for any league game across the current and previous season. The Star Sports Shor Meter during MI vs CSK soared at the stadium as well at 131 decibels, the highest for this season. The clash of the champions was also the most rated league stage match, outside of the pandemic years, attracting 17.4 Crore Viewers on TV with a watch time of 1540 Crore minutes on 14th April 2024.

Channel V's V Fest now set to treat audiences twice a year

Channel V’s flagship live event property “India Fest” is all set to be held twice a year henceforth. Speaking at the event that was held at the Baga Grounds on 13 and 14 February, an official channel spokesperson says, “In the first six months of the year, we will have the live mega event in Goa while during the other six months we will conduct V Fest Tours across the country where winners from the fest in Goa will be taken for the shows that we hope will ignite the rock and pop culture.”

Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, said, "The competitive landscape was not a factor that played out in our decision. It (Andhra Pradesh) was a key market that had always been on our radar. In all the four (southern) states we now have a significant share. "
