Top 10 TV Entertainers of 2011

As2011comes to an end, we give you the list of serials/games shows that made the year most entertaining. With a mutltitude of characters who played a role on the small screen, some stories enthralled...Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana seems to have piqued the audience' interest the most, closely follwed by Yeh Rishta Ky Kehlata Hai, again from theStar Plusumbrella. Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta shone brightly while even COLORScame out with a few winners in the form of Balika Vadhu and Uttaran. Star Plus' Pratigya helped the channel remain atop while the new serial Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, aired on SONY, seems to have caught the fancy of very many. Onthe gameshow front theAmitabh Bachchanhosted Kaun Banega Crorepati was the big winner. Sasural Genda Phool and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon - aired on Star Plus - also made it to 2011's Top 10 TV Entertainers list.SAATHIYA SAATH NIBHANA (STAR PLUS)Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is the story of a saas-bahu relationship retold through a young and simple girl's point of view, whose name is Gopi. Raised by her loving Mama and tyrannical Mami, Gopi has been bereft of the true love of a mother. She craves the same love, and hopes to win it from the family she is married into.YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI (STAR PLUS)This is a heart warming story of a girl called Akshara who, not unlike millions of other girls in India, knows that her marriage will happen with the consent of her parents and family. It is a love story of two strangers who fall in love after marriage.KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI (SONY ENTERTAINMENT TV)Based on the international game show 'Who Wants to Be a Billionaire', Kaun Bangea Crorepati entered into into its fifth season this year. Again hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the game show proved to be a huge hit and one of the top entertainers of the small screen for the year 2011.ISS PYAAR KO KYA NAAM DOON (STAR PLUS)'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon' is a star-crossed love story presenting an interesting contrast of personalities entwined in a relationship swinging between love & hate. Khushi and Arnav have diametrically opposite ideologies. If Khushi believes in means, Arnav believes only in ends. Khushi's relationships are the most important to her, whereas Arnav believes all people come with a price and can be manipulated for one's benefit.

Channel V to strengthen its weekday programming

Channel V Head, Prem Kamath said, "We are excited about the new innings at Channel V India, which has been born out of extensive research of our audience. Our viewers today have a shorter attention span, and they like experimenting and sampling a variety of new shows. Hence the new shows would be shorter, season-based ones, and we are excited about the disruptive attempt at scheduling, by airing the new shows as bi-weeklies."

Movie channels gear up for the IPL onslaught

About Star Movies’ and Star Movies Action’s plans during IPL 7, Star India business head English cluster, Kevin Vaz, says: “The strategy is that viewers can immediately switch to exhilarating blockbusters after an exciting match of cricket. Both channels have a fantastic line-up for their audiences and will provide the best Hollywood content.”
