GEC Watch: Colors adds maximum viewership; bounces back to No. 3

Shastri Sisters on Colors opens at 2.6 TVM and averages at 1.9 TVM. Laut Aao Trisha on Life OK opens at 2.5 TVM and averages at 2.2 TVM in Week 30.

Week 30 of TAM 2014 was dominated by Colors as the channel added maximum viewership on the back of improved ratings of almost all of its shows. The spurt in viewership helped the channel reach closer to 400-mn mark and claim No. 3 position.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 30 of TAM 2014 (July 20 – July 26) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GEC genre followed by Zee TV at No. 2. Colors overtook Life OK to become No. 3 channel. Sony and SAB TV remained at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Zee TV’s premium Hindi GEC, ‘Zindagi’, dropped to 23 GTVM in its fourth week of launch against last week’s 29 GTVM.

Among the new shows launched in Week 30, Shastri Sisters on Colors opened at 2.6 TVM and averaged at 1.9 TVM. Laut Aao Trisha on Life OK opened at 2.5 TVM and averaged at 2.2 TVM.

Sony’s latest mega fiction show featuring Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Yudh’ dropped to 0.8 TVM in its second week. The show had opened at an average rating of 1.4 TVM last week.

Star Pluscontinued to lead the pack with viewership above 700-mn mark. The channel recorded gross viewership of 709 GTVMs with a relative share of 28.70% (last week 712 TVM with 29.74% relative share).

Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 439 GTVM and a relative share of 17.77% (last week 436 TVM and 18.21% relative share).

Colors added maximum viewership this week and bounced back to No. 4 position. It recorded 398 GTVM and a relative share of 16.11% (last week 347 TVM with 14.49% relative share).

Life OK slipped to No. 4 position despite the channel held its viewership at 361 GTVM. The channel had a relative share of 14.62% (last week 361 TVM and 15.08%).

Sony witnessed growth in its viewership this week and recorded 288 GTVM with a relative share of 11.66% (last week 270 TVM and 11.28% relative share).

SAB TV too added more viewers this week. The channel’s gross viewership was recorded at 275 GTVM with a relative share of 11.13% (last week 268 TVM and 11.19% relative share).
